Live Well,

2020 In A Nutshell: Netflix’s Top 10 Most Watched Movies And Series

This year was filled with overwhelming emotions for all of us! The saving grace during the pandemic were movies and series, and the OTT platforms serving binge-watching options. With social distancing, lockdowns, and quarantine becoming daily topics of conversations and becoming our new normal, it was a good business for streaming sites like Netflix, Primevideo, Hulu, etc. as subscribers just couldn’t get enough.

In May, Comcast Corporations (an American telecommunications conglomerate) reported that Monday was the new weekend as quarantined households binge-watched more and more content on that day.

Key takeaways from Comcast Corporations’ 2020 data:

  • COVID-19 is blurring weekday and weekend viewing levels and habits; Monday is a more popular viewing day than Saturday.
  • Since early March, viewership has surged 8 hours a week per household, from 57 hours a week per household to 66 hours – or an extra workday’s worth of content.
  • We’ve also seen a 35% increase in streaming and web video consumption, across our entire broadband network, in addition to traditional TV viewership increases.

As we near the finish line of this immensely challenging year, strict lockdowns measure and continued quarantined time, are going to lead consumers to continue streaming content online. ‘TV Time’ which has 15 million registered app users worldwide, surveyed which Netflix original series and limited series were binge-watched the most by those based in the U.S.
