1. English Vinglish (2012): English Vinglish traces the journey of a doting mother who is often mocked by her daughter and husband for her bad English. While staying in America, she secretly enrolls in the English spoken class and discovers herself. Starring the legend Sridevi in the lead role, English Vinglish is a perfect movie for you to watch with your mother.

2. Mom (2017): Mom follows the story of a stepmother who seeks justice for her daughter who was brutally gang-raped by a group of spoiled rich students from her school. For Mom, Sridevi got a National Film Award and the movie is commendable for its subject.

3. Maatr (2017): A mother seeks revenge when she and her daughter are sexually assaulted by a politician’s son and his friends. Her daughter dies in the incident, and how the mother seeks revenge forms the crux of the story. Maatr marks Raveena Tandon’s return to the big screen.

4. Nil Battey Sannata (2015): Nil Battey Sannata is one of the sweetest mother-daughter relationship movies. Chanda, a high-school dropout who works as a household maid, is a single mother of a girl Apeksha. Given the condition of Chanda, Apeksha dislikes studying. To motivate her daughter, Chanda enrolls in the same class as Apeksha is in. The movie shows the love and hate relationship between a mother and a daughter in the sweetest way.

5. Queen (2013): This Kangana Ranaut starrer is one for all ages. It is still a rare sight in Bollywood to see women breaking free the chain and coming of age on screen. The story traces the journey of a heartbroken girl whose fiance leaves her right before the wedding. She then embarks on a journey that changes her attitude towards life.

6. Mother India (1957): Nargis starring in the iconic mother’s role in the dramatic film Mother India shows a struggle and difficult choices a mother has to go through to keep her family intact and the household in a piece. Mother India is one of the best films churned out by Bollywood.

7. Karan Arjun (1995): Twin brothers Karan and Arjun are killed by their evil uncle. Their mother prays that the god Kali will bring back her sons, so that they can avenge the death of their father. Seventeen years later she discovers that her prayer has been answered and her sons are incarcerated. The movie shows the undying love of a mother towards her children.

8. Deewaar (1975): We have one word for this film! ‘Mere Paas Maa Hai’. The iconic dialogue is written in the history of cinema. Two brothers Vijay and Ravi choose two different paths, one turns to crime, while the other becomes an honest police officer. The movie is twisted when Ravi is sent to nab his criminal brother Vijay.

9. Listen… Amaya (2013): Listen… Amaya is a story of a budding writer Amaya who tries to cope with her widowed mother and her relationship with Jayant. The story complicates when Jayant is the one who happens to collaborate with her for producing a coffee table book.

10. Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001): Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… is one of the most beautiful family films to watch together with your loved ones. The movie talks about a mother’s undying love towards her son Rahul, who in fact is adopted. Rahul is banished by his father when he marries a middle-class woman. Years later, Rahul’s younger brother Rohan sets out on a mission to unite his family.
